FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We have members ranging from age 5 to well into their 50s, with a vast span of personal and professional backgrounds, with different athletic histories... There's a saying that Jiu-Jitsu is “for anybody, but not for everybody” - you can do a lot of research on Jiu-Jitsu, but the only way to answer this question is to step onto the mats and experience it. The fact that you’ve made it to this page is a good indication that you should give it a shot.

Yes! We have female members whom are brand new to Jiu-Jitsu, as well as ones whom have years of experience!

The best practice would be to wear a compression rash guard, or a non-baggy t-shirt – and to bring an additional shirt to wear home. Most practitioners prefer to bring a pair of sandals/flip-flops to wear when they are not on the mat. The final, and maybe most important thing to do, is to make sure that your fingernails and toenails are trimmed for both you and your training partners safety.

We have several different options for membership, ranging from month-to-month to longer term options. All of our memberships are essentially ‘unlimited’ meaning you can attend any/all of the classes on the schedule.

Yes – we do offer discounts for families.

We don’t mandate that you wear any specific type of Gi. If you’ve trained previously, your Gi collection is probably just fine. If you are just starting Jiu-Jitsu we are happy to help you pick out your first one, and we do have some for sale. For our NoGi classes we do require participants to wear standard NoGi apparel (no baggy shirts, no sweatpants, no shorts with pockets, no clothing with zippers). Also – as you may have noticed, we have some BEAUTIFUL floor/wall mats at our facility.. We’d prefer to keep them that way, so all clothing worn in training ABSOLUTELY MUST be washed/dried prior to training to ensure that any color dye from the clothing has been flushed out.
